3 ( 2 x ) = 81 take a ln ( ) on both sides
( 2 x ) ln ( 3 ) = ln ( 81 )
x = [ ln ( 3 ) ln ( 81 ) ] / ln ( 3 ) or
x = 1 ln ( 81 ) / ln ( 3 ) = 1 4
x= -3

1. log b ( x n ) = n log b x.
2. log b x = log a x / log a b. this is why ln ( 81 ) / ln ( 3 ) = log 3 ( 81 ) = log 3 ( 3 4 ) = 4
