Solve by substitution
Let, ( m + 1 ) 1 = x
This implies,
8 x 2 30 x + 7 = 0
Factorize the above quadratic equation. Find two numbers such that sum is -30 and product is 56. The factors of 56 are 1,2, 4, 7, 28, 56
The two numbers are -28 and -2 implies the factors can be found out as shown below
8 x 2 28 x 2 x + 7 = 0 4 x ( 2 x 7 ) ( 2 x 7 ) = 0 ( 4 x 1 ) ( 2 x 7 ) = 0
This implies
x = 1 4   o r   x = 7 2
Substitute x in terms of m
( m + 1 ) 1 = 1 4 1 m + 1 = 1 4 m + 1 = 4 => m = 3 ( m + 1 ) 1 = 7 2 2 = 7 m + 7 7 m = 2 7 = 5 m = 5 7
