The distance, r, between two points in 3 dimensions is given by:
r = ( x 2 - x 1 ) 2 + ( y 2 - y 1 ) 2 + ( z 2 - z 1 ) 2
Substituting in the coordinates for the two points given:
r = ( 0 - ( - 4 ) ) 2 + ( 4 - 0 ) 2 + ( ( - 2 ) - 2 ) 2
( - 4 ) 2 + ( 4 ) 2 + ( - 4 ) 2
16 + 16 + 16 = 48 = 4 3 = 6.93
