Let x be type A coffee
Let y be type B of coffee
Cost of type A coffee =5.30 dollars per pound
Cost of type B coffee =4.25 dollars per pound
Total cost =538.20 dollars
According to the question we have:
2 x = y
5.30 x + 4.25 y = 538.20
Substitute y = 2 x
5.30 x + 4.25 ( 2 x ) = 538.20
5.30 x + 8.5 x = 538.20
13.8 x = 538.20
x = 538.20 13.8
x = 39
