The population of a town increased from 1442 to 1868 btwn 2009 and 2012. Find the change of population per year if we assume the change was constant from 2009 to 2012.

We assume that t=0 for the year 2009 and t=3 for the year 2012
( t 1 , y 1 ) = ( 0 , 1442 )
And ( t 2 , y 2 ) = ( 3 , 1868 )
The slope of the point is
m = y 2 y 1 t 2 t 1
m = 1868 1442 3 0
m = 126 3
m = 142
Thus, the change of population per year is 142
