Given : Boiling point of water sample 1 = 102 °C
Boiling point of water sample 2 = 99.2 °C
And theoretical boiling point of water = 100.0 °C
The percentage error of any experiment is given by
percent error = | Experimental value - Theoretical value × 100 | Theoretical value
Hence substituting the value we get
Percent error for water sample 1 = | 102 100 | × 100 100 = 2 % Percent error for water sample 2 = | 99.2 100 | × 100 100 = 0.8 %
