My first instinct would have been to substitute x=tan2(θ)
I=xn2(1+x)ndx
x=tan2(θ)
I=tan2n4sec2n(θ)2tan(θ)sec2(θ)dθ
=2tan2n3sec2n2(θ)dθ
=sin2n3(θ)cos(θ)dθ
Setting sin(θ)=t we get
I=2t2n3dt=2t2n22n2+C=(sin2(θ))n1n1+C
=1n1(x1+x)n1+C
