In a study, the data you collect is Age in years.
There are four different levels of measurement.
1) Nominal level - In this level of measurement, the numbers in the variable are used only to classify the data. In this level, alphabets, symbols can be used. Eg: Name
2) Ordinal level - This level of measurement depicts some ordered relationship among the variable's observations. Eg: Ranks, Grade, Ratings
3) Interval level - This level of measurement not only classifies and orders the measurements, but also specifies that the distances between each interval on the scale are equivalent along the scale from low interval to high interval. Eg: Temperature i.e., distance between 950C and 970C is the same as the distance between 1010C and 1030C.
Numerical values without a zero point. Eg: IQ, Degrees Celsius
4) Ratio level- In this level of measurement, the observations, in addition to having equal intervals can have a value of zero.
Numerical values with a true zero point.
Age is a continuous variable. A person's age does have a meaningful zero point (birth) and is continuous if you measure it precisely. That is, it is meaningful to say that someone's age is 7.25 years old.
Level of measurement of Age can be Ratio scale.
