In your case, you want the result up to third order in x, so you expand everything up to third order:
vsinx(1v)+vcosx=v(x16x3+O(x5))}{112vx2+O(x4)}
Now with u=12vx2O(x4)
1112vx2+O(x4)=11u=1+u+u2+=1+12vx2+O(x4)
and thus
v(x16x3+O(x5))}{112vx2+O(x4)}=v(x16x3+O(x5))(1+12vx2+O(x4))
=vx(12v216v)x3+O(x5)
