Raw scores in a normal distribution are the different scores , some values are more than the mean and some values are less than the mean.
We transform a simple normal distribution into a Standard normal distribution because we have to look at all the values on same level measurement for comparing the values (standardization) . For a Standard normal distribution, Mean = 0 , Standard deviation = 1
The formula for transforming a raw score X into z:
Z=Xμσ
Z = 1 tells that the value is 1 standard deviation away from the mean , 2 tells that the value is 2 standard deviation away from the mean
