Rewrite as 8x8+18x6+11x41=0. By inspection, i is a root, and therefore so is -i. Divide the polynomial by x2+1. We get 8x6+10x4+x21. Note that i is a root of this, and therefore so is -i. Divide again by x2+1. We get 8x4+2x21. Let y=x2. Now we have an easy quadratic.
