f(a)=a1a2+a4a2
We have
f(a)=1a2+4a2a21a2a24a2
=12a21a2+42a24a2
Let a2=x, we then want to solve for
12x1x+42x4x=0
(12x)2(4x)=4(2x)2(1x)
(4x3+20x217x+4)(4x3+20x232x+16)=0
15x12=0
x=45
Hence, a=±25, which gives us f(a)=±2
