To round 98 to the nearest ten, we need to look at the ones place .if the ones place is 5 or greater, we round up, and if the ones place is less than 5, we need to round down.
the ones place of 98 is 8.It's higher than 5 so we need to round up to round up add 1 to tens place and replace the ones place with the 0.Therefore,98 rounds upto 100.

Solving a two-sample z-test for two population proportions is to be performed using the P-value approach.
The null hypothesis is H 0 : P 1 = P 2 and the alternative is H a : P 1 P 2 . Use the given sample data to find the P-value for the hypothesis test. Give an interpretation of the p-value.
n 1 = 200
n 2 = 100
x 1 = 11
x 2 = 8
I got a p-value of 0.4009 but I'm not sure how to interpret this p-value and what it means or if my result is correct.

The planes to make a round-trip by heading due west for a certain distance, turning around, and then heading due east for the return trip.During the entire flight, however, the place encounters a 57.8 m/s wind from the jet stream, which blows from west to east. What is the maximum distance that the plane can travel due west and just be able to return home ?

Interpreting a Computer Display. In Exercises 9–12, refer to the display obtained by using the paired data consisting of Florida registered boats (tens of thousands) and numbers of manatee deaths from encounters with boats in Florida for different recent years (from Data Set 10 in Appendix B). Along with the paired boat/manatee sample data, Stat-Crunch was also given the value of 85 (tens of thousands) boats to be used for predicting manatee fatalities.

If each fire truck takes 50 minutes to make and each doll takes 45 minutes to make, how many fire trucks and dolls should Roger make to minimize the time spent making the toys.

Replacement of paint on highways and streets represents a large investment of funds by state and local governments each year. A new, cheaper brand of paint is tested for durability after one month’s time by reflectometer readings. For the new brand to be acceptable, it must have a mean reflectometer reading greater than 19.6. The sample data, based on 35 randomly selected readings, show x=19.8 and s=1.5. Do the sample data provide sufficient evidence to conclude that the new brand is acceptable? Conduct hypothesis test using a=.05. Use the traditional approach and the p-value approach to hypothesis testing! Show all of the steps of the hypothesis test for each approach.

Meaning of P ( X Y ) P ( X ) P ( Y )
Imagine that we have a set Ω and X and Y are events that can happen, I mean, P ( X ) , P ( Y ) > 0. Then, what does it mean the ratio P ( X Y ) P ( X ) P ( Y ) ?
I know that P ( X Y ) P ( X ) P ( Y ) = P ( X | Y ) P ( X ) = P ( Y | X ) P ( Y ) and if that ratio is equal to 1 then X,Y are independent events, but I can't figure out what exactly it means... please give simple examples.
I found this when reading about lift-data mining.
