Two types of aluminum sheet metal are being tested to use as aircraft skin. 15 samples of Sheet metal 1 have a mean Tensile strength of 24 KSI and 13 samples of Sheet metal 2 have a mean Tensile strength of 19 KSI both having a standard deviation of 2 KSI. They will use sheet metal 1 if its Tensile strength exceeds the Tensile strength of sheet metal 2 by at least 2 KSI. Make a conclusion based on the given data, use 0.05 level of significance.

Step 1
Given data:
x1=24 n1=15 σ1=2
x2=19 n1=13 σ1=2
Null and Alternative Hypothesis:
H0:μ1μ2=2
H1:μ1μ2>2
Step 2
Test Statistics:
z=(2419)22215+2213=3.96
Using z-distribution table
Pvalue=0
Step 3
As P-value is less than the level of significance, we have sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis.
Conclusion:
We have sufficient evidence to conclude that sheet metal Tensile strength exceeds the Tensile strength of sheet metal 2 by at least 2 KSI
