F-test can be used when we are given two groups and we want to compare the differences in the variances of those two groups. The aim is to find whether the give similar conclusions or not. Here, population should be normally distributed and samples are needed to be independent events.
In simple words, it is used to test if the variances of two populations are equal or not. It can be either a one-tailed test or a two tailed test.
One-tailed test:
H0:σ1=σ2
H1:σ1σ2
Two-tailed test:
H0:σ1σ2
H1:σ1>σ2
or H0:σ1σ2
H1:σ1<σ2
