a) The Xe in XeF2 is sp3d hybridized. The xenon atom forms single bond to two F atoms and there are 3 lone electron pairs which accounts as five hybridized orbitals. The molecular structure of all of examples can be seen in solutions for Exercise 112.
b) The Xe in XeF4 is sp3d2 hybridized. The xenon atom forms single bonds to 4 atoms of F and there are 2 morelone electron pairs which accounts for six hybridized orbitals.
c) The Xe in XeO3 is sp3 hybridized. The xenon atom forms three double bonds to 3 oxygen atoms and there is one more lone electron pair which accounts for four hybridized orbitals.
d) The Xe in XeO4 is sp3 hybridized. The xenon atom forms four double bonds to 3 oxygen atoms which accounts for four hybridized orbitals.
