With one significant exception, the process for solving linear inequalities and linear equations is virtually identical.
The resultant inequality is identical to the original one if we multiply or divide both sides of an inequality by the same negative number and flip the inequality symbol.

Consider the linear equation, 

X20=0
X=20
In an inequality find the possible X values.
For example x>20  or  x<40.
x can take any value greater than 20 or any value smaller than 40.
So, solving a linear inequality is different from solving a linear equation.
