Step 1
Simultaneous equations are two or more equations which involves two or more quantities that are related by these equation. They are also called as system of equation and includes few independent equations.
The two methods of solving system of equation are firstly by substitution of equation and secondly by elimination method. The two simultaneous equation can be represented mathematically as follows:
ax+by=c
dx+ey=f
Step 2
The given two equation is x2+y2=8 and x+y=0 . Now, consider equation x+y=0 equate such that x is a function of y
x+y=0
x=-y
Put value of x=−y in equation x2+y2=8 to solve equation for y
x2+y2=8
(y)2+y2=8
y2+y2=8
2y2=8
y2=82
=4
y=4
=±2
Therefore, value of y is ±2.
Step 3
Put value of y in equation x=−y to get value of x
x=(±2)
=2
Therefore, value for y is+2 then x is -2 and if y is -2 then x is +2.
