(a) The system of equations corresponding to the given matrix is
x+2y=5
y=-l
(b) Putting y = —1 in the first equation we get
x+2(—1)=5 i.e. x= 7. So, the given system of equation is consistent and x = 7, y = —1 is the solution of the given system of equations.
