An inconsistent system is a set of equations that has no solutions. Consistent systems, on the other hand, have at least one resolution. This means there is at least one intersection of the lines. If a consistent system has exactly one solution, it is independent. If a consistent system has an infinite number of solutions, it is dependent. 
Step 2 
We have, 
y=4x-1...(1) 
And 
8x-2y=2 
Upon further solving, we obtain the outcome as
8x-2y=2 
8x-2=2y 
y=8x22 
y=4x-1...(2) 
From equation (1) and (2), both lines represents the same equation of line. 
Thus, the lines are coincident and therefore there are an infinite number of solutions. This is a consistent-dependent system.
