Solve the system of equations by elimination method.
3x+8y=20
5x2y=4
We have
3x+8y=20.......(1)
5x2y=4.........(2)
Multiply by 4 in equation(2), we get
4(5x2y=4)

20x8y=16........(3)
Adding equation(1) and equation(3), we get
23x=36
x=3623
Putting the value of x in equation(1), we get
3×3623+8y=20

10823+8y=20

8y=2010823

8y=46010823

8y=35223

y=35223×18

y=4423

We get x=3623 and y=4423
