That is,
The equations formed are:
x+y=10········(i)
and
1% of x+4% of y=2% of 10x+4y=20········(ii)
Subtract equation (i) from equation (ii):
(x+4y)(x+y)=2010
=>3y=10

=>y=103
x=10y=10103=203
Hence,
203 quarts of 1% milk is mixed with 103 quarts of 4% milk to obtain 10 quarts of 2% milk.
