The following substitution is used when converting between polar and cartesian equations.
x=rcosθ(1)

y=rsinθ(2)
We have the following cartesian equation.
xy=3

On substituting the equations (1) and (2), we get,
rcosθrsinθr(cosθsinθ)
r=3cosθsinθ
is the required polar equation.
