Remember the formula for an exponential function is represented by f(x)=abx where a is the initial value and b is the growth rate. 
If the base, b>1, then it shows exponential growth. If it is 0<b<1, then it shows exponential decay. 
Keep in mind that the function's base is greater than 1. This equation thus depicts exponential growth.
