1.Do everything as above but there is one more step. There is a solution manual in my school, so the answer should be right. After you get -9M You use XaXb So its 12M(9M)=21M Final Answer is 21M
2. m1v1+m2v2=0 where m1=60kg, m2=80kgi.e. v2/v1=m1/m2
At a distance of 12m, time elasped t=12/v1
At the same time, the heavier astronsut should have traveled s=v2t=12v2/v1=12m1/m2=1260/80=9m to the right.
