The cosine of an angle is the ratio of the side length adjacent the angle to the hypotenuse in right triangle (cos=adjhyp).
Since the hypotenuse is the longest side of a right triangle, the hyp>adj, which means than the cosine ratio is always less then 1.
Hence, cos A cannot be larger than 1.
