A museum groundskeeper is creating a semicircular statuary garden with a diameter of 25 feet. There will be a fence around the garden. The fencing costs $7.25 per linear foot. About how much will the fencing cost altogether? Round to the nearest hundredth. Use 3.14 for ππ. The fencing will cost about $$

The perimeter of the garden is the circumference of the semicircle plus the diameter: \(\displaystyle{P}=\frac{{1}}{{2}}\cdotπ{d}+{d}\)
Substitute d=25ft:
\(\displaystyle{P}=\frac{{1}}{{2}}\cdot{\left({3.14}\right)}{\left({25}\right)}+{\left({25}\right)}\)
P ~ 64.25ft
Since the fencing costs $7.25 per foot, the fencing cost altogether is:
\(64.25 ft\times $7.25/ft ~ $465.81\)
